Car is LEFT hand drive.

Problem is: Boot on Left side (opposite of gearbox!) has boot ripped. Bought new boot.

Just to loosen hub and pull out the drive-shaft? It was installed 2 years ago, hardly driven so boot must have wrong rubber mix.

Can this be pulled out without oil spillage from gearbox? Is there an extension rod from the gearbox to the connector?

Should I attempt to do this myself? I have only replaced drive-shaft once on a Japanese car, forgot how I did it though.

DIY job or should I pay the garage? I am an electrician not mechanic :?

Hi,
You can leave the shaft in the gearbox but you need to drop the lower ball joint off to get the CV joint out of the hub.
