Hi all,
my exhaust has just fallen of my talbot express, :( does anyone know the cheapest place for exhaust pipes, the front down pipe is ok I need to replace the rest of it, I think this pipe might have been bodged to make it last a bit longer before I bought the van.
I have looked on the internet and it looks like a complete system just under £100, any thoughts?
thanks
signman.

Hi Signman,
what engine is the exhaust for? I think you are doing well to get it for under £100 ,because when I made enquiries about one at my local motor factors for future reference they were talking over £200. So if you have the name of the supplier and or a link to there website, post it up in this section it could be useful to other members.

Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave, mine's a 2.5ltr Diesel the prices that I've found are for supply only, I 'll try and find the name of the supplier on the net again, and post it, I was going to try my local motor factors too to see if they can do better.
regards
signman.

Hi,Signman,
my engine is the 2lt petrol,so there must be a bit more involved in the petrol engine exhaust hence the price differance,so not knowing the general price of the deiasel version cant really say if just under £100 is a good price or not but still sounds quite reasonable to me.If you find that supplier again it could still be usefull to other members, putting it in the parts and accesseries section might be best.
Cheers,Dave.

Hi Dave,
http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/exhau ... ?ID=870097 this is the site that I found on the internet just under £100 for front, centre and tail pipe, might be worth checking out price for petrol engine
regards
signman.

Hi,Signman,
just checked the price for the petrol exhaust on that site and it seems to be around the same price as the diesel, around the £100 mark  brilliant,so I know where i will be getting mine when I need it (probably spring 2012).So there is probably little difference between petrol and diesel, I was just quoted a rip off price. If you do happen to find a supplier any cheaper post it up,but I would be quite happy to pay £100.

Cheers,Dave.

Hi,
Excluding the front pipe, the exhaust system is the same for all variants apart from the TD, I think. You could try here: http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/talbo ... system.php
Approx £60 + VAT for both silencers components. They are made in the UK by Klarius who have a pretty good reputation.

Best Regards.

Hi guys,
Just a cautionary note,
I've taken the van in for a service and for new exhaust to be fitted, just found out that my van is turbo but exhaust will not fit, too small a bore.
mechanic sent for one from his supplier and that was also too small a bore, after three motor factors looking in their catalogues, no one now supplies exhausts to fit 2.5 turbo diesel campervan!!!, what my mechanic is now going to do is have a front pipe, from the turbo, made from stainless steel and manufacture the rest of the pipe, and maybe only have one silencer, might even go quicker
I'm not sure if the ones supplied from the internet are the same I didn't have time to order from them.

If youv'e got a turbo please double check with your supplier or you could end up out of pocket.

regards
signman.

Hi guys, I need a new front down pipe for my 1992 2Ltr Petrol and the Cats Direct Site mentions that the exhaust system is for versions between 10/1982 and 06/1990. Does anyone know if there is any difference on the front pipe? I've had popping on the overrun and thought that it might be a problem with the manifold, engine mounts etc, but after some invetigation today, found a small hole on the down pipe which I couldn't see before and when I put my (gloved!) finger over the hole it solved the problem. So I'm hoping for a relatively cheap fix, but more importantly people might stop pointing and laughing at us when we are decelerating down hills!
